Our story – the mission that started with one impossible deadline
When Anand was Head of Data at MonAmi, he was handed what seemed like an impossible task—migrate Tennessee’s entire state customer data from Wellsky to MonAmi in just three months—everyone expected it to fail. Legacy system migrations are notorious project killers, the kind of technical quagmires that destroy timelines, budgets, and careers.
But something remarkable happened. The project was successfully completed. And in those intense three months, Anand uncovered insights that would reshape how we think about data migration entirely.
The three revelations that changed everything
First – data migrations aren’t just complex ETLs. Everyone treats them the same way, but they are fundamentally different beasts. ETLs move data regularly between known systems. Migrations are one-time, high-stakes operations between systems that were never designed to talk to each other. They require completely different thinking, different tools and different approaches.
